„SOUVENIR“ at IKFF Hamburg, International Film Festival Edinburgh and Moscow International Experimental Film Festival
A dreamlike excavation of layers of folklore and presence imbued within the landscape, invoked through movement and ancient field recordings; and the process of reclamation of erased cultural narratives conjured by a sequence of potent performative gestures. The transformation of physical artefacts into sacred objects; and a journey taken across the east coast of Taiwan shot on hand-processed Super 8 film sets in motion an exploration of colliding manifestations of spirituality.

— Entends-tu ce que je vois? Do You See What I Hear?
„Images so that we may hear; sounds so that we may see. A willingness to refine our understanding of the world, to extract from the unique relationship of sound and image a meaning that transcends our initial perception of the whole. As though the incompleteness brought forth by the absence, censorship or obliteration of one sense contributes to the making of sense. As though the essence of the matter resides in unfulfilled expectations, or in the avowed lacunae of several of the artworks brought together here.
Watch, listen more closely to catalyze a sharper form of consciousness and an enduring acuity that permit an ever-clearer reading of things and of this world, which, for the first time in history, is called upon to face its precariousness through an incessantly mediated reality.“

„Feminism/Theory/Film“ –
Center for Art Research, Eugene (USA)
February 28th – March 1st 2019
Dorothee Ostmeier’s paper will focus on short films by female director duo Lina Sieckmann und Miriam Gossing to explore the cinematographic layers that link the films’ documentary agenda to surreal visual montages and poetic feminine voice-overs. Selected films will be placed in dialogue with Timothy Morton’s concept of the “hyperobject.” Can these films be viewed as aesthetic hyperart/hyperexpression? The theoretical framework will highlight the tensions between the films’ powerful aesthetics and feminine queer desire as they decenter socially ingrained dualisms.
Screening as part of the Conference „Feminism / Theory / Film“ at University of Oregon.
Organized by the Department of German & Scandinavian, this interdisciplinary conference hosted at the University of Oregon’s EMU and Center for Art Research buildings in Eugene brings together scholars from the humanities, women and gender studies, cinema studies, and art fields to explore the intersection of feminist film theory and experimental film making since the 1970s.
Guest speakers from the University of Toronto, Princeton University, Goethe University Frankfurt, University of Alberta, and Université de Tours will join researchers from the University of Oregon to discuss the following key topics: video production as feminist action in the 70s and 80s; (sub)urban housing and domestic spheres; transnational, intersectional, digital and embodied feminisms; materiality, memory, perception.

DECEMBER 2018
„One Hour Real“ at MuMa Le Havre (Musée d’art moderne André Malraux)
Programme :
Arianne Olthaar, Hotel Forum, 2016, 9’40
Miriam Gossing & Lina Sieckmann, One hour real, 2017, 12’40
